Who we are!
The Western Counties Branch of the CWU was formed in 2007 following a merger between the Somerset & West Wilts Branch and South West No.1 Branch, and represents around 3400 members who work mainly within Royal Mail Group. Included in that number are around 350 or so retired members who continue to benefit from the services and representation the CWU has to offer.
The Communication Workers Union nationally represents workers not only with Royal Mail Group, but across many other companies and industries, including BT , Openreach , Virgin Media , Orange , Business Post , Teleperformance to name but a few.
In addition to helping members with work related problems the union provides a whole range of free legal services (see Legal and Financial page) as well as discounts on car, pet and home insurances etc.
The CWU also owns an award winning 3 star hotel in Bournemouth, The Elstead Hotel, where you can stay at a discounted rate. They can be contacted on 01202 293071.
