Advice for Reps and Members
The Branch are very mindful as to how difficult it is to be a local or area rep in today’s climate.The Union is able to negotiate national agreements that cover terms and conditions. These terms and conditions do impact on everyone’s contract of employment and so it is vital that we always try and ensure such national agreements are followed.
The Branch has now agreed that all members should be able to feel confident that minimum standards of representation operate in all workplaces. The policy is intended to help local reps carry out their tasks and to feel that there is a structure that will help and protect them.
The policy is also intended to ensure all members are equally represented and also to ensure that they have more say in what happens in their workplace when changes are being proposed.
