CWU Humanitarian Aid and Alma Hospital Trust

There are two main charities that the CWU is proud to be associated with due to the work of CWU members themselves:

The Alma Hospital Trust

Mohammed Younis a local postie from Watford set up in 1995 a charity with aim of bringing free health care to one of the poorest regions in Pakistan.

He worked tirelessly for 12 solid years until at last in November 2007 the hospital opened. Both CWU and Royal Mail have provided help for the project.

It is a truly amazing and inspirational story. Bringing real care and medical help to so many.

This is a registered charity and now provides a 75 bed hospital, but it needs support to keep it going.

If you can help with a small donation we would strongly encourage you to do so.

CWU Humanitarian Aid

Most members we are sure, are aware of CWUHA. If not, then please read on and find out more about them.

Their motto, “Bringing a smile to needy children” is just what they and have been doing since 1995 when the Union was contacted by trade unionists in Bosnia during the war in the Balkans.

Since then, thanks to the fantastic work on many volunteer CWU members and thanks also to Royal Mail and BT, convoys have regularly gone out to Bosnia, Lithuania, Moldovia, Ukraine, Albania and Romania, brningin much needed clothing and equipment for needy children, many of whom are left in orphanages with no family to call their own.

If you can help, we strongly encourage you to do so.
